Who am I?

My name is Julie Woehler (she/her). I am a licensed clinical social worker, and I am so glad you are here!

  • I have been loving, adventuring, and living life with my wife since 2017. I have three incredible kids who came into my life through fertility treatments and with birth trauma. I am a survivor of both postpartum anxiety and depression. I am here to share the good news that you will not feel this way forever – there is life after the postpartum period. As someone who is in recovery from an eating disorder, I am passionate about bringing hope and help to individuals who are struggling with food and their relationship with their body. I have and have seen individuals extinguish their eating disorder behaviors, as well as grow, learn, and accept the body they are living in.

  • My hope for every client I work with is that they can live a life worth living. Society prioritizes productivity over community, leaving people and parents feeling lonely, isolated, guilty, and as though they are not enough. I aim to provide a space for healing, connection, vulnerability, empathy, and NURTURE. It is my priority to push back against the culture of productivity and perfectionism and encourage us to slow down, connect, feel, and allow for rest. I believe that our bodies are wise, yet to survive we have cut off the connection to our body and have learned to live from the neck up. A big part of my practice is helping clients relearn to connect with their bodies, listen, and respond to the messages their body is sending.

  • Learning, keeping up with research, and providing evidence-based practice is important to me. I really like to balance both the art and science of therapy. I don’t believe you can have one without the other. At the same time, my credentials don’t tell you a whole lot about what it’s like to work with me. Our relationship and you feeling safe with me is my main priority. I use elements of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.  I utilize mindfulness-based approaches to help my clients connect their mind and their body to their surroundings. I am a Health at Every Size (HAES) clinician. I am continuously looking for new opportunities to grow and become a better clinician in order to best support the work I do.

  • I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Indiana (34010240A). I received my Bachelors in Psychology from Webster University and then went on to get my Master’s in Social Work from Saint Louis University. Following graduation I moved to Nashville, TN where worked in community mental health, residential addiction treatment, and inpatient acute mental health care. Life then took me to Portland, OR where I was trained at Portland DBT Institute. I was fortunate to work on the path to mindful eating team there.  I have completed many hours of training in DBT, Health at Every Size, Mindfulness, and Perinatal Mood Disorders.

Therapy Dogs

If you work with me, you’ll see and likely hear our two dogs Lilly (Chihuahua mix) and Hazel (Dachshund). Being a virtual therapist, you occasionally get a peek into my personal life—which includes these two pups!
